Selecting materials and colors to make patients comfortable, assist with wayfinding, create identity and withstand the everyday wear and tear of a busy Emergency Department was an exciting challenge.
A central open Reception Desk is welcoming to patients as they enter the facility. Comfortable groups of seating are located adjacent to this desk, creating various sized areas for family and friends as required. The Main Entry's curving floor pattern, earthy tones and ever-changing lighting – from the side windows, skylights above, overhead lighting and accent light fixtures – also assist in creating a comfortable seating area.
Main corridors with clear informative directional patterns create interest while guiding visitors to their destination.
