ViaHealth Behavioral Health Network at The Genesee Campus
In February 2006 Gardner PLUS was presented with an ambitious challenge to relocate The Genesee Mental Health Center from scattered locations in the largely vacant Genesee Hospital into a vacant 30,000 SF birthing center.
The impending sale of the property to a private developer mandated that the project be designed and constructed in 5 1/2 months. Working closely with our mechanical/electrical consultant and pre-selected general, mechanical and electrical contractors, we simultaneously proceeded with design, established demolition requirements and developed construction documents in five separate packages.
Aside from the aggressive schedule, our major design challenge was to consolidate the offices for three previously separate and distinct programs: GMHC Adult, Child and Youth, and Continuing Day Treatment programs. We worked closely with GMHC staff to assist them in reorganizing and integrating the three operations. We successfully met the schedule and the expectations of the end users.
