Pluta Cancer Center

The Pluta Cancer Center was the first independent, not-for-profit cancer treatment center in New York State when it opened in 2003.  The newly formed Cancer Center took the opportunity presented by planning a new facility to work closely with the design team, clinical staff and affiliated medical consultants to develop a functional and attractive environment for patients and families, taking cues from residential and hospitality design concepts.  Providing patient convenience, privacy and dignity were major goals of the project. Strategically located in a suburban Rochester medical office building, the Cancer Center provides convenient access from outlying areas.

An addition to the existing building was constructed for two new linear accelerator vaults, and the interior of the first floor was renovated for the Cancer Center.  The Center provides fully integrated medical and radiation oncology services including radiation treatment (Linear Accelerator and HDR), treatment planning, chemotherapy infusion, a clinic and proximity to an adjacent outpatient lab.

Gardner PLUS was a part of the design/build team assembled to meet the client’s aggressive schedule and cost parameters.
