The extensive renovation of an existing OB Unit thrust Lakeside Health System into the mainstream of the Rochester healthcare community by offering those features which savvy consumers have come to expect.  This giant step forward was taken with flexibility in mind.

Private settings for birthing, including large Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Post-Partum Rooms, have been designed to meet the needs of approximately 400 births per year, with the patient always in a private setting and the experience of the highest quality.

The Nurse Station near the entry assumes the gate keeper position, allowing observation of both Nurseries and the rest of the Unit.  It also is positioned for easy access to the Nourishment and Medication alcoves.  

The OB project is phase one of a six-phase project that will include extensive renovations and an addition to the Surgery Department.  A new shared entry will be created on the south side of the Hospital providing OB and Surgery patients with a dedicated entrance on the busy campus.
