The Gardner PLUS Team is “All Aboard in the Fight Against Hunger"
The fight against hunger has been and continues to be a long, difficult journey, and with the donation of time and food Gardner PLUS tries to make that journey easier. Built of cans and boxes of food, our award winning CANstruction 2009 entry depicts the engine and coal car of a steam locomotive, the heart and soul of this mighty form of transportation. Just as the engine needs fuel to travel the rails, people need nutritious meals to help them stay on the right track.
The Rochester design and construction community joined forces this fall in the local CANstruction competition and the thousands of cans of food used for all the structures were donated to Foodlink, Rochester’s food bank. Since CANstruction’s inception, ten MILLION pounds of food have been donated to aid in the fight against hunger. We are proud to have been a small part of this amazing accomplishment.
Don't let hunger derail our future...join us on the journey....get on board!
Our firm enthusiastically participated in an international charity event and competition, CANstruction, in the fall of 2008, along with other Rochester companies and participants from 100 cities across North America. The goal of this effort is to creatively use packaged food to sculpt an object that says something meaningful in the fight against hunger and to actively join in the fight.
Our entry, “Building Blocks to Can Hunger” spoke to our individual and collective ability to “can” hunger…one block, one can…at a time. Simple as A,B,C!
The Rochester entries were displayed in the Winter Garden at Bausch and Lomb. It was an amazing exhibit of creativity, compassion and goodwill. At the close of the exhibition, all the canned food used in the structures was donated to Foodlink to help in their critical work.
