Gardner PLUS Architects, PLLC has significant experience in both hospital-based and free-standing Radiation Oncology projects. Our experience includes the design of new units and major renovations of existing facilities, requiring the integration of existing imaging rooms into newly reorganized departments designed to improve patient flow and staff efficiency.  These projects require an in-depth understanding of imaging technology, shielding requirements, mechanical, electrical and structural issues.

Constructability issues play an important part in renovation projects to ensure a smooth construction process and uninterrupted operation of the existing department.

Medical Oncology & Related Relocation of Services

The project entails renovating approximately 2,200 SF with 700 SF of addition for a Medical Oncology in the first floor of the Medical Services Building.  This will impact the Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy currently in the space.  PT/OT will be housed in the former 3,350 SF surgery area requiring renovation.

Radiation Oncology & Related Relocation of Services

Radiation Oncology will occupy the ground floor including a renovation of approximately 2,200 SF and a below grade addition of 4,500 SF.  The addition will consist of 2 linear accelerator vaults with control rooms, sub-wait, equipment rooms, and dressing.  This work will offset a Physician’s Suite, Mental Health Services and Medical Records.  As a result there will be minor renovations of 1,900 for the Physician’s Suite relocation, 1,200 for Mental Health Services, and 1,100 SF for Medical Records relocation.

Site Work

These new oncology services will affect the parking on site.  The project includes a new 42 space lot ‘H’and improvements to lot ‘I’ to accommodate the parking impact.  Some utility relocation and upgrades will occur to enable the addition to be constructed.  If the disturbed site exceeds one acre, a SWPPP report and inspections will be required.
